You know there will be some ….. so far, getting crazy lost and turned around. Feeling the zipper on my pack start to be opened …. I totally noticed and the guy stopped and quickly walked in front of me, so I ruffled up his backpack, he muttered some protest but knew he was totally busted! A women who had seen what happened tried to tell me something, ‘good job’ I think/hope, or you stupid women! And the old swithcheroo of the money in the dark cab, Ohhhh I was warned, I’ll be much more alert next time, the 50 peso cab ride cost me 200 pesos, ouch!
So, I give the driver 100 pesos, he switches it to a fake bill with a torn corner, and he doesn’t want to take that one ‘do I have one that isn’t torn’ so I give him a new bill. The one he gives back is a photocopy, I don’t see this til the morning! Darn I wish I had taken a photo, next time, ya I’m sure there will be a next time, LOL!
Say more about the money switch…gave u the incorrect amount of change but couldn’t see in the dark?
Ah, this happened to us, too! With a taxi outside Café Tortoni, I think. Somehow the cabbie managed to remove 100 pesos from D’s wallet. He also made a quick getaway, saying he couldn’t actually drop us at the apartment because of street construction – which was not actually going on.
Hola Brigitte querida!
Quelle adventuresse you are. Re taxi criminality, you will be getting advice from near and nearer but here is my two post-Tortoni bits. Have small bills just for cabs. Tip up, and never ask for change. And don’t let their hands within a cab length of your purse. Enjoy Ideal.
Ciao D
“ruffled” his backpack! My imagination runs amok! You go girl
Nope …. wasn’t like ‘that’ at all!
