One of the biggest, most powerful and most recent influences in my life has been a book, and for someone that doesn’t read much that’s big, one written 2500 years ago, well based on that one and with some more contemporary relevance. It is the Tao, Dr. Wayne Dyers book “Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life”.
I bought this book a few months before my husband died and started reading it while I sat with him in the hospital. There have been long periods of time when I’ve not picked it up and others when I’ve read one verse every day. It has been the catalyst for profound change in my life, not the least of which is this adventure.
The verses and their ‘lessons’ are simple, truthful and inspiring. They have helped me keep things in perspective and guided me in difficult times and situations. It always surprises me when I have something troubling me and I read a verse and it’s relevance to the situation is right there, in the verse I am reading!
Making this journey, a women on my own, probably never would have happened if I hadn’t read this book, and I’ve read it too many times to count now. When something is right all the pieces fall into place. It is wisdom, I guess, that teaches us to stop forcing what isn’t working and to trust that what we really need will come along at the appropriate time. I have an iBook version now, it’s such a great way to carry my books with me, my iPad amazes me everyday. It is so wonderful to be able to continue to be inspired by the 2500 year old words of Lao-tzu thru the technology of today!
Hey there big sister! You are such an inspiration yourself. I am glad to have the chance to follow your adventure. It looks like you are having a wonderful time and getting to try so many different things. Super cool. Miss you, love you, and blessings for you!
