This market is held on a Saturday & Sunday at a different location in the city once a month, and from the size of the crowd it could easily be once a week! I went on Sunday and should have gone earlier. There were so many people you couldn’t even get close to the booths.
It is clearly evident that people here are interested in buying/eating food & products that are wheat or gluten free, vegan, dairy free, organic. I have not seen any organic foods in the grocery store, including produce, although there do seem to be small shops that carry some of these products. Surprisingly, the grocery stores do have small sections with gluten/wheat free products.
I did manage to buy some certified organic rice cakes which are grown and made here in Argentina and some great wheat free, not dairy free, ohhhh the butter here is sooooo good, chocolate chip cookies, both items were great. The food I did see people carrying looked wonderful, I just didn’t have the stamina to fight the crowds! The next time this market is on I’m going on Saturday morning when the market opens, wish me luck!
